The procedure involves repositioning and/or reshaping the diaphragm to expand lung capacity and ultimately, improve breathing difficulties caused by these conditions. These muscle fibers originate from the lumbar vertebrae and abdominal wall, the ribs and the xiphoid process, and the floating ribs.
