Secure the downrod to the octagon cover using a lock-ring on each side of the cover. FYI- that cover (and others I found) only permits a 20 degree sway. WebHowever, with 3/4" of plywood and likely at least 1/2" of drywall, you are minimally looking at a 1 1/4" deep ceiling junction box (most likely listed under "new work" at the store where there are screened through the back of the box for securing to the stud) and wire fill for your pendant lighting fixtures is probably okay.
